top 10 MJ songs

June 25th will be a day that goes down in history, for it was the death of a legend. One of, if not the, most influential icon of my generation passes. Michael Jackson was the "King of Pop", but that name doesn't even do justice for the amount of influence and impact he has had on people who grew up with him, and the great amount he will continue to influence for the rest of time. I have put together a list of my top 10 songs of his, thinking about song, impact and my personal style.

Most of Michael Jackson's music videos weren't just music videos, he took it to the next level and made short films that told stories behind his music. Most of the videos I have up are the full length versions, so sit back, relax, reminisce and remember, Michael Jackson!

1.Thriller

2.dont stop til you get enough

3.Man in the mirror

4.The way you make me feel

5.Smooth Criminal

6.Do you remember the time

7.rock with you

8.Bad
Part 1

Part 2

9.Billie Jean

10.Beat it

There are numerous songs that I could have put up here, but this list would have never stopped. Honorable mentions:

1. PYT
2. JAM
3. Scream
4. Heal the world
5. EASE ON DOWN THE ROAD
6. Black or White
7. Wanna be starting something
PLUS ALL THE JACKSON 5 MUSIC! oh man, Michael Jackson was and will continue to be the greatest entertainer of all time. Rest in Peace

HAPPY POPS DAY!!!

Well it is pretty fitting that my 100th post is on Father's Day. I want to dedicate this milestone post to my father. All that I have done in my life has been because of the amazing influence of my father. I can honestly say that I have the best father anyone could ask for. He has guided me in the best way possible and has taught me such key life lessons, things that I will cherish and pass along to my kids in the future. Father and sons always butt heads at some times, but when you look at it in perspective and relect upon why a father may be so hard or so strong on you as a child, the only honest answer that can come up is that it is because your father has so much love and passion for you as his child. This is how my father lives his life. He has based his whole life around making sure that his family has the best life, best opportunities, best ethics, best EVERYTHING, and will work as hard as he has to, to make sure it is done right.

Pops, I thank you so much for all you have done for me as a father. I know that whatever you do, it is because you love me, and I owe you the world for that. I appreciate your love, generosity, and even though it may be hard to hear sometimes, I appreciate your honesty.

Happy Father's Day Dad! You are the greatest!

World's most unique churches!

I have always been intrigued by architecture. It is amazing to understand that structures started from a visionary, then to a sketch and then to see the successful implementation is mind boggling. I just received an email from a good friend of mine, VANESSA ONG, and she sent me a list of the world's most unique churches. Creativity and innovation at its finest!

1. Harajuku: Japan

2. Saint Basil's Cathedral: Red Square Moscow, Russia

3. Hallgrimskirkja: Reykjavik, Iceland

4. Temppeliaukio Kirkko: Helsinki, Finland

5. Cathedral of Brasilia: Brasilia, Brazil

Have visions!

Patrick Awuah: Educating Leaders

This is one of the most inspiring videos on education that I have seen. This is something that touches home to me, because I have a mission and goal to help create great leaders of the future.

"Patrick Awuah left Ghana as a teenager to attend Swarthmore College in the United States, then stayed on to build a career at Microsoft in Seattle. In returning to his home country, he has made a commitment to educating young people in critical thinking and ethical service, values he believes are crucial for the nation-building that lies ahead.
Founded in 2002, his Ashesi University is already charting a new course in African education, with its high-tech facilities, innovative academic program and emphasis on leadership. It seems more than fitting that ashesi means "beginning" in Akan, one of Ghana's native languages." (Ted.com)

We can achieve excellence.

I 2nd Seth Godin, We need more Guy #3s

I had seen this funny video on YouTube before, but it wasn't until I read Seth Godin's newest post from his blog, that I REALLY appreciated this video. Seth Godin has really made me a believer in what "Tribes" can do in this world. With the evolution in technology, people are seeking the respect they want and are seeking out other people who share their same personal interests. With this, groups start to cluster together and communities are built. This video is an amazing symbol of the power of an initiator, a leader and an AMAZINGLY FUN community.

Seth Godin writes:

"My favorite part happens just before the first minute mark. That's when guy #3 joins the group. Before him, it was just a crazy dancing guy and then maybe one other crazy guy. But it's guy #3 who made it a movement.

Initiators are rare indeed, but it's scary to be the leader. Guy #3 is rare too, but it's a lot less scary and just as important. Guy #49 is irrelevant. No bravery points for being part of the mob.

We need more guy #3s."

I agree!

100 most creative people

Hey Everyone!

So I have just started up summer school and already have my first midterm coming up on Monday. With preparation for a test, always comes that great period of time where you procrastinate. Some of my finest work has come when I was suppose to be studying for a test, but was so into some new idea, new blog, something other than my textbook. During this time of procrastination, I have caught up on a few of my subscription magazines. The one I want to share is the June issue of Fast Company. It has a pretty interesting list of the top 100 most creative people. Check it out and see if you agree!

Solar Powered Head Phones

"Music becomes a sustainable experience with Shepeleff Stephen’s solar-powered, bluetooth-connected Q-Sound (quantum sound) headphones. The Romanian engineering student’s sleek design combines flexible, hexagonal solar panels, wireless technology, and rotating earpieces for a futuristic yet practical product that powers itself on the go.

Since the headphones are Bluetooth-enabled, they can connect wirelessly to MP3 devices, cell phones–anything with Bluetooth capability. That means you can chat with your friends and rock out to music without moving a muscle. The Q-Sound headphones can also connect to any audio device with a 3.5mm jack.

Each earphone contains two rechargeable lithium-ion batteries to hold power derived from the Q-Sound’s solar panels. A single hour of sun provides 2.67 hours of power at maximum volume, and a fully charged headset can run for 40 hours.

Stephen hasn’t hinted at whether the Q-Sound will come to market, but we think it would be a hit among eco-savvy athletes, beach-goers, and anyone looking to untether their tunes from the grid." (inhabitat.com)

NO IDLING!

"If you happen to be idling your car’s engine on the streets of New York, you may find yourself face to face with George Pakenham, the Verdant Vigilante. The 59 year-old Wall Street mortgage broker is a man on a mission: To stop idling vehicles from polluting the air, causing health issues, and wasting money and precious resources.

George Pakenham’s crusade to put an end to idling cars started over four years ago, “when we went to war for a second time in the Middle East over oil.” He became aware that countless New Yorkers were leaving their engines on for no good reason. His first attempt to thwart idling was when he approached a limo driver who had been idling the engine of his stretch limo while waiting for his clients to dine at a restaurant. After a ten minute discussion, the limo driver agreed to shut off his engine. Inspired by this triumph, Pakenham continued approaching idling offenders, including an undercover policeman, who ended up telling George, “Did you know there is a law against it…? Fines too? But I’m not sure how much the fines are?”

With the law on his side, Pakenham set out on a crusade that has resulted in a whopping 1438 encounters. According to him, that is equivalent to raising over $300,000, were he able to fine these idling motorists. Pakenham has kept a log of his encounters and has accumulated some interesting statistics. He estimates that only 25% knew about the no idling law, and about 77% turn off the engine as soon as he tells them about it. Further, in his first year of 823 encounters with people idling their car’s engine, 11% were female and 88% were male.

Idling vehicles are a large contributing factor to greenhouse gas emissions. There is an anti-idling law in New York that is being made more stringent to ensure that vehicles do not idle. As noted above, most people are not even aware that such a law exists. Thankfully, we have good citizens like George Pakenham, the Verdant Vigilante among us, who are happy to pass along the reminder." (inhabitat.com)
